Zusammenfassung
Die freie demokratische Gesellschaft der Moderne diversifiziert auf unterschiedliche Weise. Sie ist geprägt von einer pluralen Lebensweise seiner Mitglieder. Alter, Geschlecht, (sexuelle) Identität, ethnische Herkunft und Nationalität, körperliche und geistige Fähigkeiten, Religion und Weltanschauung sowie soziale Herkunft sind heute zu Erkennungs- und Identifikationsmarken der Individuen einer Gesellschaft geworden. Soziologisch gesehen hat sich der vormals gesellschaftliche Kollektivismus dabei weitgehend atomisiert. Nicht mehr Gemeinsamkeit, sondern Unterschiedlichkeit wird zum definitorischen Bestimmungsstück des Individuums. Dieser Individualismus hat zur Folge, dass jeder Einzelne (nicht nur sogenannte marginalisierte Gruppen mit besonderen Merkmalen, zum Beispiel Menschen mit Migrationshintergrund) zum Erhalt des eigenen Selbstwertes auf eine möglichst bestätigende Rückmeldung vom sozialen Umfeld bezüglich seiner Individualität angewiesen ist. Das Individuum ist dabei auf sich selbst zurückgeworfen und muss nun im Gegensatz zum vom Kollektiv bereitgestellten Selbstverständnis die Anforderung bewältigen, den individuellen Selbstwerterhalt selbst zu organisieren. Eine mögliche Überforderung kann resultieren. Die Polizei als eine Organisation des (zumindest intern beschworenen) Kollektivismus („Blaulichtfamilie“) mit ihren tradierten Handlungs- und Denklogiken kann dabei als ein möglicher Zufluchtsort jener fungieren, die die Auseinandersetzung mit Diversity (Wir verwenden die Begriffe Vielfalt, Diversität und Diversity synonym.) meiden (wollen), um so gewissermaßen Komplexität zu reduzieren. Psychologisch gesehen lautet daher die Hypothese, dass Individuen mit geringer Komplexitätstoleranz gerade die Polizei zu einem Zufluchtsort für gesellschaftliche Diversity-Vermeider:innen (Für eine geschlechterneutrale Sprache verwenden wir den Gender-Doppelpunkt.) machen, und damit wiederum Diversity-Management innerhalb der Polizei erschweren. Organisationaler Kollektivismus und individuelle Komplexitätsintoleranz stellen somit die Hemmnisse für Maßnahmen des Diversity-Managements in der Polizei dar. Polizist:innen könnten weniger responsiv auf Maßnahmen des Diversity-Managements innerhalb der Polizei sein, was möglicherweise besondere Anstrengungen erforderlich macht. Im vorliegenden Kapitel wollen wir den skizzierten Gedankengang einer Polizei als ein „Anti-Diversity-Ort“ der Gesellschaft ausarbeiten.
