Zusammenfassung
Der vorliegende Beitrag untersucht die visuelle Darstellung der drei Kanzlerkandidat*innen Olaf Scholz (SPD), Armin Laschet (CDU/CSU) und Annalena Baerbock (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen) in der TV-Berichterstattung im Bundestagswahlkampf 2021. Er stützt sich dabei auf die von Grabe und Bucy (2009) entwickelten visuellen Charakter-Frames (Ideale*r Kandidat*in, Populistische*r Wahlkämpfer*in, und Sichere*r Verlierer*in) und analysiert zudem Kameraperspektiven und Einstellungsgrößen. Mithilfe einer quantitativen Inhaltsanalyse werden hierzu Wahlkampfbeiträge der Nachrichtensendungen Tagesschau, Heute, RTL Aktuell und SAT.1 Nachrichten während der letzten vier Wahlkampfwochen auf Sequenzebene untersucht (N = 920). Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass Laschet die größte mediale Aufmerksamkeit bekommen hat und häufiger als Scholz und Baerbock als idealer Kandidat präsentiert wurde. Die Nachrichtensendungen haben Baerbock im Vergleich zu ihren Mitbewerbern deutlich seltener im Bild gezeigt und als populistische Wahlkämpferin dargestellt. Die Kanzlerkandidatin der Grünen wurde zudem in eher unvorteilhafteren Kameraperspektiven und Einstellungsgrößen gefilmt, was auf einen Visual Bias in der Wahlkampfberichterstattung hindeutet.
