Zusammenfassung
Während die Digitalisierung ein Grund für verringerte Naturkontakte sein kann, bieten neue Technologien ebenfalls Anlass, um über innovative Möglichkeiten von Naturerlebnissen nachzudenken. Dies betrifft insbesondere Anwendungen der immersiven virtuellen Realität (VR). Da jedoch bisher nur wenig über Einsatzmöglichkeiten dieser Technologie für Naturerfahrungen bekannt ist, werden im vorliegenden Beitrag theoretische Grundlagen sowie aktuelle Forschungsansätze zur Ähnlichkeit von Naturerlebnissen in immersiver VR und der Realität beschrieben und vor dem Hintergrund des Einsatzes in Bildungskontexten diskutiert. Die Umsetzung wird anhand von drei Praxisbeispielen skizziert. Schwierigkeiten und offene Fragen beim Einsatz von immersiver VR für virtuelle Naturerlebnisse im Rahmen von Bildungskontexten werden abschließend eingeordnet. Insgesamt können Naturerlebnisse in immersiver VR reale Naturbesuche nicht ersetzen. Bei geeignetem Einsatz kann die immersive VR jedoch eine Erweiterung des Handlungsspielraums von Lehrenden gerade in formalen Bildungssettings darstellen. Es besteht allerdings noch großer Forschungsbedarf zu möglichen Auswirkungen virtueller Naturerlebnisse sowie deren praktischer Gestaltung, der sich insbesondere auf die Entwicklung von Materialien sowie dem Einsatz entsprechender Hardware bezieht.
