Abstract

Companies that intend to internationalize their operations can take advantage of opportunities in foreign sales and procurement markets. Thus, the intention to take one’s business to an international stage also calls for an internationalization strategy for one’s supply chain. Therefore, this chapter provides guidance on aspects to consider when developing international supply chain strategies. This chapter describes the increasing supplementation of global supply chains with regional supply networks in this context. Adjusted planning parameters and better technical possibilities enable localized value creation and thereby lead to new best practices for supply chain management in a multipolar, digitalized and automized economy.
