Freunde tauschen sich über Musik aus, Arbeitssuchende werden an Unternehmen weiterempfohlen, und Broker können durch die Kolportage ungesicherter Gerüchte Paniken in Finanzmärkten auslösen. Gleichzeitig lässt sich anhand von Beziehungsnetzwerken, so das wesentliche Argument des Buches, aber auch der soziale Rang von Akteuren ablesen.
