Zusammenfassung
Kommunikation ist eine der zentralen sozialen Gegebenheiten menschlicher Gesellschaften und daher unverzichtbarer Bestandteil der Modellierung vieler sozialer Phänomene. Dabei ist die erste Frage die nach den Möglichkeiten der Modellierung von Kommunikation selbst. Neben dem von Shannon & Weaver entwickelten technischen Kommunikationsmodell, hat die soziologische Theorie in erster Linie drei weitergehende Modelle von Kommunikation anzubieten: Kommunikation als soziale Handlung, Kommunikation als symbolische Interaktion und Kommunikation als systemischer Zusammenhang. An die Vorstellung dieser grundlegenden Modelle (1) schließen dann Einschätzungen zu den Implikationen dieser Modelle für die Simulation an (2). Danach soll der Fokus etwas erweitert werden auf Modelle von Kommunikationszusammenhängen, wobei sich der Beitrag vor allem auf die Modellierung von Kommunikationsnetzwerken konzentrieren wird (3), da man hier nicht direkt von der Ebene des Kommunikationsbegriffs auf die Ebene der Gesellschaft springen muss, sondern eine Form der Modellierung mittlerer Reichweite realisieren kann. Schließlich sollen einige abschließende Bemerkungen zur Simulation von Kommunikationsprozessen angefügt werden (4).
