Zusammenfassung
Das Wachstum der höheren Pflanze steht unter der Kontrolle von Hormonen, die in ihrer chemischen Struktur wohl zum größten Teil bekannt sind und hauptsächlich den 3 Gruppen der Auxine, der Gibberelline und der Phytokinine angehören. Untersuchungen der letzten Jahre deuten klar darauf hin, daß auch die pflanzlichen Hormone Effektor-Substanzen sind, die an der DNS des Zellkerns eine Repression und Derepression verschiedener Teile des Genoms bewirken können; sie sind also fähig, Gene zu aktivieren oder zu blockieren. Das heißt, daß sie an der Regulation der Enzymsysteme maßgeblich beteiligt sind und so zu einem wechselnden Proteinmuster in den Zellen führen können. Diese hormoninduzierten Veränderungen in der Zelle führen dann zu so komplexen Phänomenen wie dem Wachstum oder der Differenzierung. Wir glauben daher, daß wir heute, bei beginnendem Verständnis der Regulationsmechanismen, einem so komplexen Vorgang wie dem Wachstum, durch Besprechung der einzelnen Hormongruppen und ihrer Wirkungsweise am besten gerecht werden können.
