Zusammenfassung
Nervenzellen mit den Merkmalen von Drüsenzellen wurden von Scharrer und seinen Schülern im Zentralnervensystem, insbesondere im Zwischenhirn der Wirbeltiere in zahlreichen Untersuchungen nachgewiesen. Bargmann U. Mitarb. entwickelten den Begriff des diencephalen neurosekretorischen Systems mit seiner Gliederung in Produktionsstätte, Transportweg und Stapelort von granulärem Neurosekret. Die Nervenzellen im Hypothalamus, d. h. die Drüsenperikaryen, produzieren Sekretgranula, welche im Axoplasma der Zellausläufer zum Hypophysenhinterlappen als dem Stapel- und Abgabeort transportiert werden. Derart gegliederte neurosekretorische Systeme wurden auch bei Wirbellosen festgestellt. Ein Analogon des neurosekretorischen Zwischenhirn-Hypophysen-Systems ist z. B. das Intercerebralis-Cardiacum-Allatum-System der Insekten und das neurosekretorische System der Crustaceen, bestehend aus dem X-Organ sowie anderen sezernierenden Zellgruppen in Verbindung mit der Sinusdrüse.
