Zusammenfassung

In clinical Ophthalmology, ocular hypotonia and bleeding into the anterior chamber are common events, which may be followed be severe damage to many of the ocular tissues. The effects of these two processes on the outflow system are of interest because they impose a stress on the native of intrinsic cells and through this they reveal the nature of the cellular reaction in response to the insult. In addition a study of the potential disorganisation of the trabecular meshwork as a result of either hypotonia or blood overload, is of relevance to the long-term effects of prolonged surgical procedures, e. g. tumour resection, vitrectomy, and the repair of traumatised eyes.
