Abstract
Background. A number of well-known data sources are used for pharmacoepidemiological studies. Many of these have limitations. There are additional data sources (those developed for managed care plans, group practices, and hospital inpatient and outpatient care) which have not yet been studied but might offer more complete data than the traditional sources.
