Zusammenfassung

Wir wissen relativ viel über den Verlauf affektiver Erkrankungen, soweit es sich um hospitalisierte Kranke handelt. Es gibt aber kaum Untersuchungen im Längsschnitt über ambulant Behandelte und unseres Wissens keine über repräsentative Stichproben der Normalbevölkerung, welche unbehandelte Fälle einschließen. Aus der Erkenntnis, daß psychiatrisch hospitalisierte Depressive heute nicht repräsentativ für Depressive in der Allgemeinbevölkerung sein können, entschlossen wir uns, eine Kohorte junger Erwachsener longitudinal zu studieren.
