Abstract

It has been reported that most patients with reflux esophagitis have a pathologically increased gastric acidity [1], (Table 1) although these data are not confirmed by all authors. However, even if the pathogenesis of reflux esophagitis is multifactorial, gastric acid is probably the most important factor in developing esophageal mucosal lesions
