Zusammenfassung

Das traumatisch bedingte Mittelhirnsyndrom hat im Hinblick auf die Überlebenschance und den klinischen Endzustand eine besonders schlechte Prognose: 80–90% der Patienten sterben (FISCHGOLD u. MATHIS, 1959; FROWEIN, 1976; OVERGAARD, 1976; JENNETT u. TEASDALE, 1977). Das klinische Leitsymptom des akuten Mittelhirnsyndroms sind die Strecksynergien der Extremitäten und des Rumpfes (GERSTENBRAND, 1967; FISHER, 1969; PLUM u. POSNER, 1972). Pathologisch-anatomisch finden sich in etwa 80% der Fälle ödematöse Veränderungen und primäre oder sekundäre Einblutungen in das Mittelhirn (E. Th. MAYER, 1967; ADEBAHR u. FROMM, 1969).
