Zusammenfassung

Die initiale Ursache der Colitis ulcerosa und die ihren Verlauf bestimmenden chronifizierenden Erkrankungsprozesse konnten bisher noch nicht vollständig aufgedeckt werden. In den letzten Jahren sind zahlreiche neue Aspekte aufgegriffen worden, aber insgesamt läßt sich jetzt noch nicht entscheiden, ob es sich urn eine Erkrankung handelt, oder ob mehrere Leiden dieses Krankheitsbild entwickeln, in dem verschiedene ätiologische Reize von einer gleichartigen Reaktion am Dickdarm beantwortet werden (ALMY 1961; BARGEN 1924; WARREN u. SOMMERS 1949; WARREN u. BERK 1957; MITCHELL u. REES 1970; MELNYK 1975).
