Abstract
The introduction of the New Zealand Black (NZB) mouse and the related hybrid NZB/NZW F1 (B/W) mouse into experimental medicine 20 years ago has contributed greatly to our understanding of autoimmunity in general and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in particular.
Supported by USPHS Grant AM 16140 and by research funds from the Veterans Administration Hospital.
