Part of the book series: Bayer-Symposium ((BAYER-SYMP,volume 6))

Abstract

A virus agent was isolated from an infected tarsal joint of an adult chicken by Olson (8), in the United States. The agent was grown in tissue culture, and described as an ether- and heat-resistant RNA virus approximately 0.1 ยต in size (12). A natural outbreak of synovitis caused by the viral arthritis agent was described by Olson and Solomon (9). A similar disease was described by Dalton and Henry (2).
