Zusammenfassung
Chromatographie ist die Bezeichnung für alle Trennmethoden, mit deren Hilfe Substanzgemische durch Verteilung zwischen zwei Phasen in ihre Komponenten zerlegt werden können. In der Dünnschichtchromatographie (DC, engl. TLC: thin-layer chromatography) ist eine Phase unbeweglich auf einer Platte fixiert (stationäre Phase), und die andere Phase ist beweglich (mobile Phase). Die bewegliche Phase fließt während der Entwicklung des Chromatogramms durch die stationäre Phase. Während des chromatographischen Prozesses kommt es zur Einstellung einer großen Anzahl von Verteilungsgleichgewichten, die zu einer Substanztrennung führen. Da bei der DC die stationäre Phase auf einer planaren Platte fixiert ist, wird für diese Trenntechnik auch der Oberbegriff „Planarchromatographie“ verwendet. Ohne Chromatographie ist die heutige Analytik undenkbar; dies gilt für die Säulen- wie auch für die Planarchromatographie. Die geschichtliche Entwicklung der Chromatographie wird in Kapitel 1 dargestellt.
