Abstract

The incidence of malignant melanoma has consistently increased since the beginning of the century: affecting i in 1,500 of the population in 1935 the incidence at the end of the 1980’s is approximately around 1/130 and will be 1/90 by the year 2,000. There is a great variation between different populations.
