Abstract
To appreciate the originality of developmental psychology and the specificity of its problem, it is of course essential that we refer to Piaget and in particular to his early training and interest as a biologist. More precisely, we must examine the problem and the theories of evolution which were reevaluated at the beginning of the century in the light of new discoveries in heredity. Since that time, interest in these problems has readily increased, as a result of contemporary concepts in population genetics and new contributions in cellular biology.*
