Zusammenfassung

Was will und was soll Erziehung im Jugendalter? Diese Fragen sind naheliegend, und trotzdem fehlen übereinstimmende und konsensfähige Antworten. Theorie und Praxis geben mehrdeutige Empfehlungen. Oft werden körperliche und seelische Gesundheit, großes Selbstbewusstsein, die Bereitschaft, sich in der Gemeinde einzusetzen und sich für die Gesellschaft zu engagieren, gute Schulleistungen oder auch die spätere berufliche Karriere als allgemeine Belege für erfolgreiche Erziehung genannt. Damit ist vorgegeben, was Jugendliche zu erreichen haben und welche Werte und Normen dabei richtungsweisend sind. Aus Sicht der Jugendlichen geht es in der Erziehung nicht um ihre eigentlichen Stärken. Stattdessen werden jene Eigenschaften gestärkt, die mit den gesellschaftlichen Normen übereinstimmen und zu den gewünschten Ergebnissen führen.
