Lasers in Photomedicine and Photobiology

Part of the book series: Springer Series in Optical Sciences ((SSOS,volume 22))

Abstract

In the last years lasers, especially tunable dye lasers [1] became indispensable tools in all fields of spectroscopy because of their great advantage over conventional light sources [2, 3]. They gained growing importance not only in photophysics and photochemistry [3, 4] but recently in photobiology and photomedicine, too [4, 5, 6]. Laser investigations will increase our knowledge about structures and spectroscopic properties of biomolecules as well as about kinetics of various biochemical processes.
