Summary
This report discusses the efforts on the work process reengineering project of Slovenian Railways. The reengineering project was developed with the wish to obtain a transparent inventory of company processes and the tool ARIS proved a suitable solution. The project was started in 1999. We had to assure not only the basic equipment but also the appropriate human resources to cover individual work areas by specific knowledge. Having formed the group, we started to train the people and model the function trees. The next step was to set up the organizational structure and create the first eEPC diagrams. Due to company reorganization, the organization structure chart changed as well. This caused a short delay in process analysis because we had to adjust the changed company organization to the status of ARIS data base. The processes were analyzed by means of a questionnaire / identifier from which we derived the required data. The data collected in this manner will serve as a good foundation to confront the anticipated changes in the company; these changes concern cost-efficient business operations, adjustment to the market and adaptation to EU directives. Our further work will be based on the products / services that we provide to the market. We will accordingly adapt our optimal work processes and, on this basis, implement the quality system, in harmony with the new ISO 9001:2000 standard which involves process approach and continuous improvements.
