Zusammenfassung
Die verheerenden Anschläge des 11. Septembers waren das Ergebnis einer strategischen Richtungsänderung innerhalb der djihadistischen Bewegung. Gegenüber Kritikern setzte sich die Al-Qaida-Führung mit ihrer Sichtweise durch, dass die USA der Hauptfeind seien. Die Angriffe von 9/11 sollten im Sinne eines Kräftemultiplikators einen Mobilisierungsprozess in der islamischen Welt auslösen. Während der „Schwarze Dienstag“ die hohe taktische Befähigung Al-Qaidas verdeutlicht hat, zeigen Vorgeschichte und insbesondere die Ereignisse seit 2001 jedoch, dass auch Al-Qaida nicht in der Lage ist, die Lücke zwischen verfolgten Zielen und verfügbaren Mitteln zu schließen und damit die Voraussetzung für strategischen Erfolg zu schaffen.
