Zusammenfassung
Zwischen dem Forschungsgegenstand ‚Ethnizität‘ und dem Forschungsansatz der ‚Ethnomethodologie‘ scheint auf den ersten Blick ein hohes Maß an Affinität zu bestehen. Nicht nur führen beide das ‚ethnos‘ im Namen, Ethnizität und Ethnomethodologie verbindet darüber hinaus auch der methodologische Bezug auf Subjektivität: Während Ethnizität – jedenfalls wenn man Max Weber (1921/1972: 237) folgt – auf den „subjektiven Glauben an eine Abstammungsgemeinsamkeit“ verweist, gilt die Ethnomethodologie als ein Ansatz, für den im Anschluss an Alfred Schütz die subjektive Perspektive der Handelnden eine zentrale theoretische Prämisse bildet. Trotz dieser scheinbar hohen Affinität gibt es jedoch keine ethnomethodologische Ethnizitätsforschung. Auch wenn sich einzelne Arbeiten aus dem Umfeld der Ethnomethodologie mit Fragen der Ethnizität befassen (vgl. Moermann 1965, 1974, 1988, 1993; Hansen 2005; Heyman 1990; Hopper 1990/1991), so ist doch zu konstatieren, dass man einen systematischen Beitrag aus der Ethnomethodologie zur Ethnizitätsforschung vergeblich sucht. Dafür gibt es Gründe, die systematischer Art sind und im Folgenden erläutert werden.
