Zusammenfassung
In dem Film „Casino Royal“ erhält der Geheimagent 007 James Bond des britischen Secret Service MI6 den Auftrag, in einem Pokerturnier 100 Millionen Dollar zu gewinnen. Das Pokerturnier ist von dem Schurken Le Chiffre initiiert worden, der dank Bonds vorheriger Arbeit in finanzielle Schwierigkeiten geraten ist und der die Gewinnsumme von 100 Millionen Dollar braucht, um weiter im Geschäft der Finanzierung terroristischer Gruppierungen tätig sein zu können. Und eben das soll Bond verhindern. Begleitet wird 007 bei dieser Mission von einer Mitarbeiterin des britischen Schatzamtes, Vesper Lynd, die darüber zu entscheiden hat, ob Bond im Laufe des Turniers, neben des für die Teilnahme an den Pokerspielen nötigen Einsatzes von 10 Millionen Dollar, weitere 5 Millionen Dollar als Einsatz zur Verfügung gestellt werden. Während des Turniers wird Bond von dem Schurken Le Chiffre mit einer tödlichen Dosis Digitalis in einem Cocktail vergiftet. Als Bond die Wirkung des Giftes spürt, verlässt er zielstrebig den Spieltisch und geht in die Waschräume des Spielcasinos. Auf dem Weg dorthin nimmt er von einem Tisch ein Wasserglas und einen Salzstreuer.
