Zusammenfassung

Die Sterberate für Einzelalter oder für Altersintervalle ist eines der Standardmaße in der Demographie, wenn es um die Beschreibung der Mortalität einer Population oder um den Vergleich zweier bzw. mehrerer Populationen geht. Dennoch sind für dieses im Prinzip einfache Maß einige Details zu beachten, die nicht immer bei der Interpretation berücksichtigt werden. Im Folgenden werden deshalb zunächst die Sterberate sowie mögliche Standardisierungsverfahren besprochen.
