Zusammenfassung
In einer demokratischen Gesellschaft hat jedes Kind ein Recht auf Bildung. Dieses Recht bezieht sich jedoch nicht nur auf eine beliebige Form von Bildungsstätte sondern auf eine Bildungseinrichtung und ein Curriculum, das dem Konzept demokratischen Zusammenlebens entspricht. Ziel dieses Kapitels ist es, die Hauptmerkmale eines solchen Curriculums zu identifizieren, besonders im Hinblick darauf, wie es im Kontext der Früherziehung vielleicht realisiert werden kann. Um das zu erreichen, wird es notwendig sein, drei wichtigen Fragen nachzugehen — erstens, was sind die wesentlichen Merkmale einer demokratischen Gesellschaft, zweitens welche Konsequenzen haben diese für die Bildungsangebote in einer solchen Gesellschaft, und drittens, welche Art von curricularer Politik und Praxis wird eine angemessene Form der Bildung in den frühen Jahren ermöglichen?
