Zusammenfassung

In Bildungspolitik, Hochschule und Hochschulforschung findet der Begriff der ‚Internationalisierung der Hochschulen‘ zunehmend Verwendung. Die Forschungsliteratur zur Internationalisierung der Hochschulen sowie die Häufigkeit der Verwendung des Begriffs in bildungspolitischen Papieren legen den Schluss nahe, dass die Internationalisierung für die Hochschulen weltweit von zentraler Bedeutung ist. In der Regel wird jedoch nicht genügend präzisiert, was unter dem Begriff verstanden wird.
