Zusammenfassung
In Europa mangelt es gegenwärtig an Raum. Das zeigt sich jedenfalls an einer Reihe von Initiativen. So ist in der Verlängerung der Lissabon-Strategie und der europäischen Wissensgesellschaft die Rede vom ‚Europäischen Forschungsraum‘. Ein anderes Projekt ist die Schaffung eines ‚Europäischen Raumes für lebenslanges Lernen‘. Und in Kreisen, die sich mit Unterrichtsforschung beschäftigen, ist der bekannteste Raum der ‚Europäische Hochschulraum‘. Man erwartet von uns, dass wir die zukünftigen Bewohner des ‚Europäischen Hochschulraumes‘ sind. Die Bologna-Erklärung von 1999 betrachtet ein ‚Europa des Wissens‘ denn auch als eine „unerlässliche Voraussetzung für gesellschaftliche und menschliche Entwicklung sowie als unverzichtbare Komponente der Festigung und Bereicherung der europäischen Bürgerschaft.“1
