Abstract
The linearity assumption holds that the parts of S progressively degrade due to wear and tear, and this dominant phenomenon has multiple consequences. Any endangered part harms close components and triggers a cascade (or waterfall) effect . This compound failure mechanism accelerates the system deterioration towards the definitive end-point.
