Abstract
There might be a discrepancy between the actual expectations and views of patients and what their doctors believe to be the patients’ view. To get a better understanding of how patients view their treatment options and what their preferences are, an international survey of Ledderhose patients was conducted using an online questionnaire.
Overall, patients seem to be highly dissatisfied with the quality of counselling received. Surveying the treatment options showed that the options most readily available, surgery, orthotics and steroid injections, are from a patients’ point of view amongst the least effective options, while radiotherapy and cryotherapy are scoring higher but are much less available.
