Abstract
This chapter addresses the need to do a thorough review of records as part of the functional behavioral process. An individual or team should review attendance records, medical history, disciplinary records, academic history, assessment records, and the individualized education program, if available. Gaining consent and a release of information will be needed in some instances as well as for information that has to be obtained from other sources.
