Abstract
This study presents the design by simulation, the improvement in efficiency of a voltage source inverter (VSI), using silicon carbide (SiC) components, in a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). Using field-oriented control (FOC) at a switching frequency of 100 kHz. An analysis of efficiency and energy losses is presented, through simulations, analytical methods, device data sheets, to compare them with conventional silicon (Si) devices. For the development of simulations and control design, tools such as MATLAB and Psim are used.
