Abstract
As early as the northern and Southern Dynasties in China, it has been recorded that in villages near the seashore and rivers, oyster shells have high strength and hardness due to their unique structure, and have anti-theft, noise reduction and sound insulation effects. Therefore, they are often used in the wall construction of residence, also known as “oyster shell house”. However, due to the development of materials and technology in the field of architecture, this local building material gradually disappears in the field of modern architecture. At the same time, with the coastal cities expanding a large number of marine aquaculture for economic development, oysters, known as “milk of the sea”, have become the most important marine products in coastal cities. But as the main food material, oysters also make the waste of oyster shells become more and more serious. Facing the flooding of oyster shells, coastal cities spend a lot of human, material and financial resources every year to alleviate the environmental pollution caused by oyster shells. Therefore, how to deal with a large number of abandoned oyster shells has become a very serious problem in coastal cities. If oyster shell, a natural and renewable green material, can be widely used in product manufacturing as an industrial raw material, it will greatly alleviate the urban pollution caused by oyster shell.
