Abstract

The prevalence and morbidity of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) are rising in the USA and globally. As more endoscopic therapies become accessible, the promise of a GERD treatment without incisions grows. Despite progress in medical and surgical treatment over the past few decades, there are still gaps in the therapeutic profile of available alternatives. In a possibly minimally invasive manner, flexible upper endoscopy holds the prospect of filling these gaps. This chapter focuses on the current variety of endoluminal therapies available to treat GERD. The various endoscopic approaches are detailed, and the evidence regarding the indications, advantages, and hazards of various historical, contemporary, and new treatments is examined in depth.
