Abstract
This chapter illustrates the general method to calculate the shape of the angular distribution for any considered two-body decay, and surveys examples for different kinds of initial particles, with integer or halfinteger J. We describe the dependences of the angular distribution shapes on J, Jz and the identity of the decay products, as well as the physical domains of the observable parameters. We also discuss how the measurement of the decay angular distribution can lead to the determination of J for an unidentified decaying particle.
