Abstract

Although hypocaloric diet and exercise remain the cornerstones of weight loss management, procedural options are important augmentative therapies in individuals with higher BMIs and weight loss goals. Bariatric surgical options are effective, but invasive, carrying inherent surgical risk. Newer endoscopic approaches have been developed including space-occupying devices such as intragastric balloons, aspiration systems, small bowel devices, and endoscopic plication and suturing techniques. The following is a review of endoscopic management of obesity highlighting currently approved devices and investigational products.
