Abstract

Tibia and Fibula fractues are common in children and a compartment syndrome must be ruled out. Most fractures can be treated conservatively, but displaced fractures should be stabilized, if possible with ESIN. In fractures of the tibia with stable fibula, the length of the tibia needs to be restored in order to prevent a varus deformity, in part with an external fixateur. In small children, distal tibia shaft fractures can be treated conservatively, otherwise with ESIN after correction.
