Abstract

The chapter sets the scene for the book and discusses the importance of evaluating disruptive learning environments and non-traditional educational practices. It defines academic innovations within higher education perspectives and supplies a brief overview of the five sections of the book: (1) Taking an institutional perspective to learning amid disruption, (2) Redesigning whole programmes to meet challenges of remote learning, (3) Focusing pedagogic design in remote and blended curricula, (4) Restructuring assessment and feedback for online pedagogies, and (5) Supporting student learning and wellness in lockdown. Overall, the chapter argues how the contextual and conceptual variety captured by forty-six case studies in the edited collection supply multidisciplinary and inclusive perspectives of the best practice of academic innovations having strengths to sustain even after the pandemic.
