Abstract

Osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) is a safe and effective way to address somatic dysfunction, which might impair or alter the function of the body framework system. Somatic dysfunction can be a pain generator in and of itself can contribute to other common musculoskeletal conditions, and osteopathic manipulative treatment for somatic dysfunction can be a valuable addition to standard care. This chapter will describe different methods of osteopathic treatment and discuss indications and contraindications for OMT and how it may be applied to common clinical MSK conditions.
