A Knowledge Based Tool to Validate and Verify an Aion Knowledge Base

  • Chapter
Validation and Verification of Knowledge Based Systems

Abstract

We present a tool for the validation and verification of a knowledge base (KB). Validation techniques become more and more important when knowledge based systems (KBS) are widely used to automate business critical processes. The tool can be used during and after the development of a KBS and focuses on a logical verification of the KBS. The techniques used to verify a knowledge base are meta rules, an inference engine to verify hypotheses posed by meta rules (saturation), and meta information (provided by the user). The tool is written in the same language as the knowledge bases that can be verified: Aion. Aion is a widely used commercial development environment for the development of knowledge bases and intelligent components.
