Abstract
The experiments of Dash and co-workers show that the He monolayer adsorbed on graphite is a new, 2D quantum system.1,9 The simplest model is the tight binding approximation, in which the zeroth-order wave function of the adsorbed atom is localized around the center of the hexagonal unit cell of graphite.
