Abstract
The use of imagery to promote healing and improved mental states in cancer patients has been studied extensively in recent years, providing strong evidence that individuals can use their own creative images to produce positive treatment of the psychological and physical effects of this devastating disease. For example, the interactions of mind and body have been examined by Simonton and Simonton in an attempt to increase host resistance to the invasion of cancer cells by mobilizing the patient’s imagery to fight malignancy. Patients are told to visualize their disease, their treatment and their own immune system acting upon the cancer.
