Abstract
Although the title of this symposium is “Genetics and the Law,” I must hasten to advise you that I am neither a geneticist nor a lawyer. I assume, therefore, that my presence on this platform reflects a special privilege that has been mine; that is, to observe at rather close quarters the legislating of fetal research, a process with a history confined to the last four years.
