Abstract
Durability and damage tolerance issues for graphite-epoxy wing structure are explored within the framework of the 800 element tests and 21 full-scale box-beam tests performed during the Life Assurance of Composite Structures program.
The beam design and load conditions are briefly reviewed and referenced, but the emphasis is on lessons learned from the program. Specific issues discussed are static strength, fatigue performance, environmental limits, test methods and design implications.
