Abstract
There is no doubt that the mountains of the Rila and Rhodope massif cause significant mesoscale deformations of the air flows. On the other hand it is clear that the local flow systems, caused by the horizontal heterogeneity, may have a great influence on the local pollution transport and hence on the detailed pollution pattern. That is why the study (a very preliminary one) of the mesoscale topography effects in the region and their influence on the air pollution transport, which is the objective of the present work, is interesting from both scientific and practical points of view.
