16.10 Schlussfolgerung

Pulsatile Systeme, insbesondere das Berlin Heart Excor, stellen heute eine zuverlässige Option zur Unterstützung von Kindern mit kardiogenem Schock bis zur Erholung der eigenen Herzfunktion oder bis zu einer Transplantation dar. Der frühzeitige Entschluss zur Implantation des Systems, die Heparinbeschichtung der Blutpumpen und die in den letzten Jahren vorgenommenen Verbesserungen der Kanülengeometrie sowie der Antikoagulation und ihrer Überwachung haben zu einer signifikanten Steigerung der Überlebens- und Krankenhausentlassungsrate, besonders bei Kindern im Alter von unter 1 Jahr, geführt.
