Abstract

Faculty members in U.S. universities are charged to perform in three areas: Teaching, Research, and Service. Service includes contributions to the profession, institution, college, department, students, and the community. This chapter contains 12 poems about various categories of service: attending professional conferences, serving as a grant reader, serving on external dissertation committees, serving on external tenure and promotion committees, giving speeches to community groups, meeting students outside of office hours, etc.
