Zusammenfassung
Kaposi-Sarkom-(KS-)Zellen wurden aus KS-Biopsien der Haut von AIDS-Patienten kultiviert. Kultivierte KS-Zellen weisen ein identisches Muster der Genexpression wie die KS-Spindelzellen in vivo auf, die als die eigentlichen Tumorzellen des KS betrachtet werden. Aufgrund dieser Übereinstimmung kann davon ausgegangen werden, daß kultivierte KS-Zellen den KS-Spindelzellen entsprechen. Diese Zellkulturen wurden als ein In-vitro-Modellsystem für Untersuchungen zur KS-Pathogenese und -therapie eingesetzt.
