Zusammenfassung

Die Therapieerfolge bei der zytostatischen Behandlung von Keimzelltumoren sind unter den soliden Tumoren des Erwachsenen einzigartig. Die Therapieempfindlichkeit wird ihren biologischen Eigenschaften zugeschrieben, die in Teilen denen von embryonalen Stammzellen entsprechen. Als ausschlaggebend werden einerseits die niedrige Schwelle zur Einleitung eines programmierten Zelltodes und andererseits die beschränkte Kapazität zur Reparatur von DNA-Schäden betrachtet. Bislang leiten sich aus dem wachsenden Verständnis der biologischen Zusammenhänge jedoch noch keine klinischen Konsequenzen ab.
